Via Echo (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name.

Coaching Session Data

When you use our AI coaching feature, we process your voice recordings to convert them to text. Voice recordings are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently. The text transcripts and AI responses are stored to provide session continuity and insights.

Journal & Mood Data

If you use the journaling and mood tracking features, we store your entries to provide insights and track your progress over time.

Usage Data

We collect general usage data such as session duration, feature usage, and app performance metrics to improve the Service.

4. Your Privacy Controls

Via Echo gives you full control over your data:

  • AI Analysis: You can opt out of AI-powered session analysis at any time. Your sessions will still work, but you won't receive post-session insights.
  • Coach Sharing: If you work with a human coach, you control whether they can see your AI session summaries. This is off by default.
  • Training Data: You can choose whether your anonymized data helps improve our AI. This is completely optional.
  • Data Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time from the app settings. This is immediate and irreversible.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase (built on PostgreSQL) for data storage with Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring that no user can access another user's data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide the Service:

  • OpenAI: For AI coaching responses and text-to-speech. Your conversations are processed by OpenAI's API but are not used to train their models.
  • Supabase: For secure data storage and authentication.
  • RevenueCat: For subscription management.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request data deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

Via Echo is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

We do not sell your personal information. Via Echo does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration.
